Yoga

At Bay Club Financial District, we've designed our class schedule to give you variety in your practice. And as with all of our group exercise classes, members never pay more -- no matter how many classes you want to take. So we invite you to try them all! Each of our teachers is highly qualified in the particular style that s/he teaches. While it is always beneficial to find a teacher you want to study more in-depth with, we also encourage you to try different teachers and styles to discover what works best for you.

Deepen your practice by combining weekly classes with private instruction and specialty yoga workshops. Our fabulous teachers can help you develop a practice that balances movement with stillness, expansion with contraction, effort with relaxation.

Why Yoga?

Born of an ancient Indian tradition, yoga is a deeply inward practice, which seeks to unite the body, mind, and spirit. On a purely physical level, yoga rejuvenates the body and balances the nervous system. On a deeper level, yoga brings clarity to the mind, openness to the heart, and a sense of inner vitality to your whole being.

Most American practitioners gravitate toward hatha yoga, the physical practice of postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and relaxation techniques. No matter which style(s) of yoga you prefer, you'll want a develop a practice that takes the body through its full range of motion -- standing right side up, going upside down, twisting side to side, and moving forward and backward. A daily practice can help you build lean muscles, manage stress, awaken your spirit, cultivate inner stillness, and improve your flexibility, balance, and coordination.
